Greg B. Gates, C.P.A., J.D.
Greg B. Gates is principal in Pershing Yoakley & Associates (“PYA”), a nationally recognized health care consulting and accounting enterprise, and has over thirty years’ experience in providing accounting and financial management services to health industry clients. For many years he practiced with the health care consulting firm of GatesMoore & Company, which he co-founded in 1982 and was merged into PYA in 2012. Prior to co-founding GatesMoore, Greg worked as a tax specialist with a Big Four accounting firm and was Vice President of a national medical practice management consulting firm. As a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Gates specializes in tax law and in the areas of physician “buy-ins,” compensation arrangements, practice mergers, practice valuations, strategic planning, and retirement plan design and compliance. Mr. Gates is a frequent speaker for various medical societies, and he also served as an adjunct faculty member of The Kennesaw State University Physician’s MBA program, teaching a course in medical practice valuation.
Mr. Gates has been named by Atlanta Magazine for seven consecutive years as one of Atlanta’s FIVE STAR Wealth Managers in the category of Taxation.
Mr. Gates holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Juris Doctorate from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPAs, and the State Bar of Georgia.
