Thomas William Baker

Thomas William Baker has over 30 years of experience as a leading national health care attorney and over 10 years of experience as an Adjunct Professor in the Auburn University Physicians Executive MBA Program on which he relied in writing a book titled The Legal Aspects of Health Care Business Transactions: A Complete Guide to the Law Governing Health Industry Business Organization, Transactions and Governance. In addition to serving as the CEO and Chairman of Boncrest Resource Group, Mr. Baker continues to practice law as a Shareholder in the Atlanta office of Baker Donelson where he is a member of the firm’s Health Law group and Long Term Care, Post-Acute Care, and Emerging Companies practice teams, and he is also the Managing Member of Coronat Services, LLC (www.coronatservices.com), which provides educational, strategic planning, business advisory, and corporate governance services.

Mr. Baker has extensive experience in assisting a wide variety of health care providers and suppliers of goods and services to the health industry, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and personal care homes, accountable care organizations, home health agencies, rehabilitation agencies, hospices, facilities for the developmentally disabled, independent diagnostic testing facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, medical practices, rehabilitation therapy providers, and health care management companies. He is skilled in matters involving health care mergers and acquisitions, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse, including both OIG and Stark Law self-disclosures, formulation and implementation of Corporate Compliance and Ethics Plans, clinical and financial integration strategies, and Accountable Care Organizations that participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program.

Mr. Baker has provided business planning for corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, limited partnerships, general partnerships and entrepreneurs, including health care providers and practitioners, in transactions including acquisitions and sales of businesses, mergers, joint ventures, trade regulation, non-competition agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, shareholder disputes, non-profit and tax-exempt organizations, and general contract and business matters. Mr. Baker also is experienced in the financing of business ventures, including tax exempt bond financing, venture capital, private investment, and commercial debt. He also serves emerging growth companies involved in health care, health care information technology, bio-medical goods and services, and electronic commerce.

Mr. Baker has earned the following degrees: A.B., Syracuse University; M.B.A., Georgia State University; J.D., Vanderbilt University. As stated above, he is also an Adjunct Professor in the Auburn University Raymond J. Harbert College of Business where he teaches courses in both the Auburn University Physicians Executive MBA Program and the general Auburn University Executive MBA Program.
